Earth Day Craft: Make Your Own Toilet Paper Tube Binoculars!

This is a fun and easy craft, and a great way to reuse empty toilet paper tubes! While they don’t actually magnify, they do narrow the field of view to allow the user to really focus on a smaller area.

Step 1

Find two toilet paper tubes. Make sure they are the same size and all paper is removed. Gather all other supplies.

Step 2

Use a thin line of glue to glue the tubes together. Let dry.

Step 3

Use colorful tape and wrap it around the top and bottom of the binoculars. Painters tape, duct take, or washi tape work well.

Step 4

Use a hole punch to poke two holes at the top of the binoculars, one on each side. If you don’t have a hole punch, have an adult use scissors to make holes or use a stapler for the next step.

Step 5

Take a piece of yarn long enough to hang around your neck and down below your chest. Tie the ends through the holes you punched earlier. If you didn’t punch holes, then tie a knot at each end of the string and staple above the knots to the top of the binoculars where the holes would be.

Step 7

Decorate with crayons, markers, and/or stickers.
