Winter Update from the Potter Park Zoological Society

On behalf of the Potter Park Zoo staff, animals and volunteers, we would like to begin by saying thank you for your continuous support!

After an extraordinarily challenging 2020, the zoo is excited to be starting down a new path that will allow us to offer an enhanced educational experience for every guest. We believe every one of the thousands of children and adults walking through our gates each year will be touched by the educational and inspirational stories of our animals. With your help, we can continue to expand our reach even further and provide these opportunities to more members of our community.

The unusual circumstances of 2020 have made us appreciate the supportive community to which we belong and inspired us to continue our efforts to be inclusive and welcoming to all. Despite this year’s difficulties, with your support, we were able to continue to provide a safe, family-friendly experience for our community.

Our commitment to the safety of our guests, staff, and animals has never been stronger. Staff have invested time to create and implement a plan that sets a new standard for safety and sanitation protocols.

We continue to expand our initiative to be more accessible and inclusive to all members of the community. Fall 2020 brought the opportunity to unveil the zoo’s new braille maps and reinstate two community engagement programs, FALCONERS and Zoo in Your Neighborhood.

Potter Park Zoo marks its 100th year in 2020. Since 1920, the zoo has traveled the journey to becoming a modern zoo due to the unwavering and generous support of the community and our dedicated staff. Even though we couldn’t celebrate the zoo’s 100-year anniversary in 2020, we look forward to continuing our growth and sharing our passion for conservation by celebrating our centennial and the start of our next 100 years in 2021.

We are hoping you might consider a gift of $100 in honor and celebration of Potter Park Zoo’s 100th year. Your support will enable the zoo to continue our mission to inspire conservation of animals and the natural world in all who visit. Again, thank you for your generous support.
