Adopt-A-Garden Program Growing

Spring has sprung and summer is quickly approaching! Looking for a great way to get outside and help your community zoo? Potter Park Zoo recently launched a new AdoptAGarden program that welcomes volunteers to create a beautiful garden space in the zoo.

Whether you are a master gardener or just beginning to nurture your green thumb, the AdoptAGardenprogram is a great way to connect with the culture and natural landscape of Potter Park Zoo. We currently have over 12 spaces (and growing!) in our AdoptAGarden program located throughout the zoo grounds. Our spaces range in size, allowing gardeners of all skill levels to participate.
Each adopted garden plot will come with a personalized plaque displaying a name or memorial of the adopter’s choosing. Potter Park Zoo will supply all simplegardening tools, mulch, and leaf bags to adopters while they are at the zoo to help adopters create the horticultural space of their dreams.
Gardening offers great personal benefits as well! Several studies have shown that gardening is a great way of getting in some aerobic exercise during the day, and helps to reduce stress. Reducing stress has amultitude of health and wellness benefits including decreased risk of heart disease and helps improve mental health including depression and anxiety.
