Party for the Planet
April 28, 2019 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Come join the party! From 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm we will be hosting a combined celebration for Earth Day, Endangered Species Day and World Oceans Day. This year’s theme is Spring into Action. Explore conservation issues with hands-on activities, information and demonstrations around the zoo. What can you do to help the planet?
Participate in a tree planting event at the zoo! We will be looking for volunteers to help plant trees from 1-3 p.m. Registration for volunteers is below.
Experience the wonder of wildlife in action as our Potter Park Zoo animals break into paper-mache creations custom made for us by Haslett’s Murphy Elementary fifth graders from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
“Party for the Planet” is included in regular admission price on Sunday, April 28, 2019. Come on out and celebrate with us!
Register for Volunteer Tree Planting!
Want to help us plant trees? We are partnering with Releaf Michigan and the DNR Urban and Community Forestry program to plant 20 trees around the zoo. We’re looking for volunteers of all ages to help us plant over 15 young native trees throughout the zoo! The plantings will begin at noon with light refreshments available after the event for volunteers.
All volunteers for the tree planting must pre-register and are welcome to stay after to enjoy the Zoo and the Party for the Planet activities.
Volunteers will be contacted a week prior to the event with instructions for entering the zoo. Please provide your email during registration. If you can no longer attend the volunteer event, please request a “refund” through eventbrite and your spots will open up for other volunteers.
