WILD School

Potter Park Zoo presents WILD School

WILD School transforms Potter Park Zoo into a living classroom where students in grades 2-5 connect every subject area to the wonders of wildlife. Through hands-on investigations, students apply science and math, strengthen reading and writing skills, and express creativity through art.

Working alongside zoo staff, teachers, and parents, students discover how people and nature are connected. This week-long program builds curiosity, critical thinking, and a lasting appreciation for conservation and the natural world.

WILD – Wonder • Investigate • Learn • Discover

  • Wonder about the amazing animals that share our planet and spark curiosity about how they live and thrive.
  • Investigate through hands-on activities that apply science, math, reading, and writing in real-world contexts.
  • Learn alongside zoo professionals, teachers, and parents while observing animal behaviors, conducting field research, and expressing creativity through art.
  • Discover how people and nature are connected, building a foundation of critical thinking, imagination, and care for conservation.
