Conservation Talk: Snow Leopard Research in Tian Shan Mountains
March 7, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Free
Please join us Wednesday, March 7 at 6 p.m. in the Safari Room at the zoo to hear zoo and wildlife veterinarian Dr. Ric Berlinski share his adventures while doing Snow Leopard research in the wild!
As a member of Panthera’s snow leopard project in Krygzstan, Dr. Berlinski has spent the last three years exploring Tian Shan mountains as a part of the projects efforts to place GPS collars on the snow leopards in this remote region. To date, they have collared 8 snow leopard, making it the second largest study of it’s kind in the world. GPS collars help scientists collect critical data to increase knowledge on the ecology of snow leopards.
