LANSING, Mich. – Potter Park Zoo’s Public Safety Department is now offering free car seat inspections on zoo grounds, at special community events or by appointment. Several members of the public safety team are certified to examine and provide feedback on the proper type, size and installation of children’s car seats. These car seats are optional for zoo guests.
“We’re learning that in many cases children are not sitting in the proper safety seats or need a booster seat longer than some parents and caregivers realize,” said Potter Park Zoo Executive Director Sherrie Graham. “I’m proud our Public Safety Department can help mid-Michigan children live and ride more safely.”
Zoo public safety staff are currently scheduled to offer optional car seat inspections at the Ingham County Fair Tuesday, Aug. 4, Friday Aug. 7, and Saturday, Aug 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. They will also be offering the inspections during Members Night at Potter Park Zoo Wednesday, Aug. 12 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Car seat inspections can be scheduled by appointment. Call 517-230-3790 for additional information.
